My Halloween Readathon TBR!

Happy October fellow bookish peoples! I have finally combed through my shelves & decided what I am going to try to read for the second annual Halloween Readathon hosted by Lauren over at Wonderless Reviews! I haven’t been great at reading this year, honestly, & the last readathon I tried to do did not go well. But that doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t keep on trying, so here we go!

What will I be reading for the 2017 spoopy season?? LET’S FIND OUT!

(all category graphics made by the wonderful Lauren as well, because she is a person of many talents!)

costume-party

19364719So many covers to choose from, I decided to go with Slasher Girls & Monster Boys, a horror novel full of short stories by many different writers & put together by April Genevieve Tucholke. I actually adore this cover. I’ve had this book since it came out & it mostly was a cover buy, but it totally has the creep factor.

JUST LOOK AT THAT MONSTER FACE WITH WOLF EARS & PEOPLE TEETH GAWD!!!

It’s almost nightmare inducing, good job designers!

Good. Job.

haunted-house

6782468This one took me a minute to really land on. I didn’t realise how few actual books I physically own that are paranormal in topic. I thought I had more, but after moving cross-country & my last big unhaul, I apparently have more as ebooks these days. But I really wanted to break out the physical books for this readathon to help break down that constant large physical tbr I always seem to have.

I wanted to keep this whole thing spooky & horror, but I decided to gear more towards the urban fantasy genre to hit this supernatural challenge. So I am going to be reading the third book in the October Daye series; An Artificial Night by Seanan McGuire! It’s got a missing child, shapeshifters, half-fae October Daye doing her thing? I really think this works.

AND I’M DOING IT!!

urban-legends

Here is the challenge that is obviously my absolute favourite thing!

Horror! Thriller! Scares & all-around creepiness! I am so ready for this. And I chose one of my most anticipated books of the season! I’ve been excited since I first read the synopsis months ago.

15797848AND IT’S FINALLY OUT!

There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins.

I am probably going to read this one first & foremost cause I totally need to it sounds so good! This is my one ebook for the challenge because I just can not NOT read this? Ya know what I mean? If you haven’t heard about this one, go click the title up there & go to its GoodReads page & check it out for yourself because it’s gonna be so good & we should ALL read it!

witching-hour1

This one is going to be the absolute easiest one for me to do. A) because I’m choosing a super ridiculously short books & B) I work nights. Monday through Friday; 9pm to 6am. I am the night shift crew & I love it. So I am ALWAYS awake after sunset. All the way to sunrise! Which really really works for me.

9351276So I got this challenge in the bag, y’all!

I will be reading the book Haunted Austin by Jeanine Plumer. I absolutely love books about hauntings & crime & I am actually working on having a book on hauntings from every place I visit during my lifetime. I have a few for Michigan, where I grew up, Salem & Massachusetts when we visited there last year, & I bought this one for Austin Texas almost IMMEDIATELY after moving down here last August.

This is one I am sure I will fly through & I’m excited to see what kind of spoopy things go down in the city I now call home. And during the best time when there’s no sun & all the creepy things are everywhere. Chills, man.

scarymovie

I actually have tons of horror & thriller movies around myself as well as a Netflix queue all filled up with movies that you know damn well I will be watching all month regardless of this challenge. I won’t be choosing a specific film ahead of time, but during my wrap-up after the readathon I will give a slight run down of the scary films I watched during the three weeks. SO STAY TUNED!

trick-or-treat

25781707This entire readathon is right up my alley so of course I’m going to stay right in the scary book category.

SO TRICK ME, DEAR BOOKS!

I’ve had The Asylum Novellas paperback bind-up by Madeleine Roux since it’s release & I just haven’t gotten to it just yet but read all the main books in the series. So I’m going to try to finally read these additions to the Asylum world! Hopefully it’s not too much of a trick & is just as amazing as I feel the main novels are.

This collection contains the three Asylum novellas:
The Scarlets
The Bone Artists
The Warden

Hype Hype!

read7books

I personally do NOT see this happening for myself, but I’ll be damned if I don’t at least try! I know exactly what my sixth book will be if I can get to it, but I’m not quite sure what my seventh would be? So I’ll list the one I know & if I get to a seventh I will update that in my wrap-up & decide when I get to it!

35650206The sixth book I would absolutely love to get to for this readathon is Monstrous Creatures by Aaron Mahnke. It’s the official first World of Lore book! It comes out on October 10th (omigawd so close!!!!!) & I am so so psyched for this one! I actually might read it as soon as I get my hands on it & just ditch every other challenge instead, but we’ll see what happens! It’s from the creator of the AMAZING podcast Lore that I am just completely in love with.

There’s also the Lore TV show being released on Amazon Prime on October 13th that’s ALSO going to be amazing, so I think y’all should watch that if you can. It’s gonna be creepy, & it’s gonna be good. You’re gonna love it.

And that’s it! This readathon goes from October 10th to the 31st & you can sign-up anytime from now until it ends so if you need something awesome to get you in the spooky mood, you should totally consider joining us all!

I am so ready for this. This is the best time of year.

Are you joining? Are we reading any of the same things? Let me know!

LET’S GET SPOOPY!!!!

    1. Thank you! I am so excited. I loved it last year & I feel like this is gonna be the most reading I’ve done all year! XD I might try reading a couple stories a week from Slasher Girls to help break things up so I can hopefully AT LEAST finish that one during the 3 weeks.

Eeeeee!!!! Buddy read!! (almost lol) I’ve heard such good things bout TSIYH, I can’t wait to start it. And don’t worry, I will keep track of all my scary things! IT’d be kind of funny if my entire wrap-up ends up being one book read & 20 million movies watched hahaaaa!!!

Man I can’t wait. So glad you’re hosting it again! I love it!!!!!

  2. I am SO SO interested to see what you think of Slasher boys and girls, I want a copy mainly coz Jay Kristoff has a short and I’m really interested to see what he’d do for a spoopy story.
Also Someones inside your house yay! I’m actually not pumped for it only because i know I’m not the biggest fan of YA horror BUT I’m interested to see what you think coz you may bump it onto my TBR 🙂

Hope you have an amazing readathon Kai! Can’t wait to see your updates ❤
