Hello! And welcome back to (finally!!) a new book tag game installment!!
This one was sent to me by my dear friend Fasha, and created by The Book Gypsy over on the youtubes!
It’s been quite a while since I’ve done one of these, so let’s just jump right in~
1; What book gave you the creeps?
You by Caroline Kepnes. Like, it was all very unsettling. Especially after catching myself constantly sympathizing with Joe like, ew no I should not be doing that????
2; What book gives you the best Halloween vibes?
The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury!! I adore that book & the cartoon movie they made of it that came out way back in the 90s when I was a kid. It made me emotional, ok
3; What’s your favourite vampire book?
Easy peasy; The Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine. Hands down. 10000000% Thank you.
4; What book scared you so much you had to sleep with the light on?
Look, ok, First off I KNOW these are kids books. They are also absolutely terrifying to me. I’ll be fine reading them whenever, but then the moment I have to go to bed, the images & words HAUNT ME. When I was a child. As an adult. Always & forever.
I actually rebought all 3 of them a few years ago & they’re not even on my shelves. I never unpacked them from when I moved out of my parents house. I’m not sure I ever will!
I’m pretty sure the majority of us have read these books; The Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series by Alvin Schwartz with art work by Stephen Gammell
If you HAVEN’T read these; you totally should. They’re awesome.
5; What’s your favourite book about witches/goblins/ghosts/demons?
Is it about Witches? Is it about Ghosts? It’s about both!!
Hello, The Wicked Deep, by Shea Ernshaw
This is seriously the best book I’ve read this year. I literally hugged the book to my chest with tears in my eyes when I finished it it is so absolutely wonderful. I can’t wait for the netflix adaptation, whenever that comes out.
6; What book do you wish was scarier than it was?
Like, the majority of the horror books I’ve read, to be honest. Recently, I listened to the audiobook of Stephen King’s Pet Semetary & I really expected…more. It was amazingly narrated by Michael C Hall, but I swear I remember being more freaked out by the movie when I was a kid than this book. Wasn’t a terrible book, I just figured it’d be scarier! Oh well.
7; What’s your favourite book that takes place in October?
I think the Vampire Kisses books by Ellen Schreiber take place in October? I honestly can’t remember, but I know at least one of the books involves a Halloween party at some point so imma go with these ones!
They’re not the most amazingly written or anything intense, but they’re fun & super cute & I recommend them ALWAYS! I love Raven, I don’t even care. (also there’s a small comic run they did that I own the first 2 volumes of that are also super cute, read those too!)
It is never too early to get your spoops on!
I’d tag some friends, but this IS a rather last minute post.
Only a few moments left of July!
Done just in time.
What would you guys pick?
Any spoopy reads to suggest?
