Totally Should’ve Book Tag!

Lemme start off by thanking the wonderful Hufsa at The Clockwork Millennial for tagging me in this fun little tag game! It’s exactly what it sounds like. In each “Should’ve” scenario, I pick books that fit it!

Let’s Play!!

Totally Should’ve:

…Gotten a Sequel

Guys, I am totally cheating here. Technically, The Last Town by Blake Crouch is the 3rd book in the Wayward Pines series.

Seriously, I loved the end of this book/series. It was so awesome, the whole thing, beginning to end. But I seriously need to know what happens to everyone after.

…Had a Spin-Off Series

I am picking the Paranormalcy trilogy by Kiersten White as the series that I’d love a spin-off series for. I liked the end, it was well done & everything was pretty much all tied up. But I could use so much more of Evie & Lend. SO MUCH MORE. They’re my faves.

…Ended Differently

1162543I have to pick Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer.

Overall, I liked it as an end to the Twilight saga, but the entire book built up to this epic battle that…..never happened.

That’s actually the one thing I loved about the last movie. They gave us an awesome battle that, yea, never really happened, but it was what I wanted in the book but never got.
Thank you, movie people!!!

…Had a Film Franchise

I’ve only read the first book so far, but I have the second & third on my shelves and, you know what? I’d love to see The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater as a film series.

…Had a TV Show

I would LOVE to see The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin as a TV show. The mystery, the romance, the extreme SUSPENCE!!! I’d watch it every night. I feel like maybe Netflix could be the best way to do it.

Anybody know anyone from Netflix? I need to pitch this.

…Had One Point of View

Imma have to agree with Hufsa on this one. I really wanted to strangle Four through most of Allegiant, he drove me crazy. His POV kinda seemed unnecesary & maybe if it hadn’t been there I wouldn’t have hated him so much.

Or maybe it would’ve been worse, who knows?

…Had a Cover Change

17286917.jpgThis one took a minute to figure out. I have quite a lot of books and, I’m not gonna lie, I’m very easy to please with cover art. A lot of the ones I looked through were gorgeous to me. Then I remembered the one my mother let me borrow.

I don’t HATE the cover of Beautiful Lies by Jessica Warman, but it could definitely use something a little…..more beautiful, I guess? It’s kind of a strange cover. Like, it makes sense with how the book is about twins & one of them disappeared, but still.

…Stopped Reading

There is really only one book that I really wish I had just put down & never picked back up, but I didn’t. I read it all the way through, & I hated it. The whole thing.

Every. Single. Page.

Fates & Furies by Lauren Groff is just awful.

I’m sorry.

…Kept the Covers

The Modern Faerie Tales series by Holly Black.

Here are the beautiful initial covers:

And here are the ugly alternative covers:

Need I say more?

Totally Shouldn’t Have Pre-Judged

13335037Divergent by Veronica Roth is a book that I assumed would be awful & that I would hate it because, at the time, I was very anti-dystopian novels. I just really didn’t like the genre at the time. But my friend Megan made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.

She told me to buy it, & if I ended up actually hating it, she’d buy it from me for the exact price that I paid for it initially. It’s like, how could I say no? Either way, I win. And I’m glad I went through with it, cause she was right. It’s an awesome series, & I love it.

I’m still not quite comfortable with tagging people just yet. Imma tag a couple people here, but anyone that feels like it should totally play!! And let me know so I can make sure I read it!

Megan: PitchBlackSky
Lauren: Wonderless Reviews
Sammie: Bookshelves and Biros

This was actually a little harder than I anticipated going in.
Lots of thinking required!
Loved it.

  1. Thanks so much for the tag! 😀 I’ll be sure to link once I’ve done.

And I agree a Mara Dyer TV show would be amazing! Also I haven’t read that Holly Black series, but yuck at that cover change! I don’t know what goes through the minds of the publishers sometimes hahaa.

    1. It’d be so goooooddd. Ughhhh

It’s the Holly Black series that got me into her! A friend gave me Tithe in high school cause it had some language and she didn’t like that aspect of it. I fell in love that day!! I recommend it, myself. The first & third are directly related, but the 2nd (valiant) is kinda….it feels really separated from the others. You still gotta read Tithe first though lol
They changed the covers back but added colours to the title words that I don’t care for but it’s better than those face covers *shudder* ewwwww
